Happy Birthday to my now eight year old Blondie and to Harry Potter!
Not cool Belatrix! |
I wanted to get Blondie's ears pierced. Hubs said she is too young.
He told Blondie that she was too young to get her ears pierced, but that she could watch Harry Potter instead.
I told him it was both or nothing. (This was turning into a bizarre bargain.)
Looks like someone will be seeing Harry Potter soon:
Today I'm linking up with Kelly's Break Room and My Life and Kids for Finding the Funny.

Can I make a bargain with you to please click on the banner below?
Haha! It's so funny what we think our kids are too young for, while our spouse has a totally different opinion. I love that you two made the bargain (and I bet your daughter does, too!).
ReplyDeleteShe wasn't trying to pit us against each other, but is winning anyway. It's all pretty funny.
DeleteI had rules too! No 'designer' (aka Jordache) jeans until I was 10, no ears pierced till I was 12..etc. etc. I turned out ok- but I will admit I'm thankful I have boys :)
ReplyDeleteFYI this is Farrah :)
DeleteUnfortunately, I can already see all these hard and fast age guidelines being thrown out the window for her younger sister.
DeletePriorities, priorities... I think I would have been with you, that Harry Potter movie scared me (but then again I'm a total chickenshit with an overactive imagination and my kids thought the movie was no big deal).
ReplyDeleteShe's pretty tough, but once that stuff's seen, it can't be unseen.
DeleteHer ears look great! I let my nephews watch Harry Potter (with mom's permission of course) and they did fine with it. They were 8 and 10 at the time.
ReplyDeleteI think it's hilarious that you guys bargained. :)
Thanks for sharing about your nephews.
DeleteI think she'll be okay watching number 7. We just have to find time when her younger brother and sister aren't around. I'm only willing to scar one child at a time. (However, scarring them all at the same time is probably more efficient.)
Looks like your daughter was the winner in that bargain!! I made my daughter read the HP books first - I don't think the movie's quite as scary if you know what's going to happen. Plus it encourages reading!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter knows she's the big winner.
DeleteShe has read all of the Harry Potter books. I just think seeing the nasty parts is harder than reading about them. I suppose we're about to test that theory.
Happy birthday to your girl! I bet she's happy with the way that bargaining turned out. My son turned 8 in May, but he won't watch "anything with blood in it." Bummer...because I'd love to watch the HP movies with him.
ReplyDeleteBlondie scored and she knows it.
DeleteI am looking forward to Harry Potter weekend marathons with all three kids. It will still be a few years before that can happen.
I had always thought it was odd how parents were so reluctant to allow their daughters to get their ears pierced, but now that I have a daughter I totally understand.
ReplyDeleteFor future reference, 8 is a really great age to do the ear piercing thing. She's appreciative and I've earned some "cool mom" points (which I kind of need).
Deletehaha we bargain like taht all the time and usually we regret it because it usually involves money and being stubborn. hahah She is so cute!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I have to admit, I'm glad money didn't factor in to the equation... this time.
DeleteLOL! I dont think bargaining will ever end...
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to Blondie :-)
Found you through the hop! Come check me out deezydoesiteezy.blogspot.com
XX XO,
Deezy
Deezy, you're probably right. I suspect this is the first in a very long line of negotiations. A very long line...
DeleteI love the way you two negotiate, and I'm sure your kids do now, too : ) Stopped by form the TGIF blog hop and I would love for you to come visit me at www.figuringitoutaswegrow.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteMy daughter knows without a doubt that she was the big winner and is thrilled with the outcome.
DeleteLove it!
