Because you loved your married childless life, you told me all the time to not have children.

I took most of your advice.
I'm answering a writing prompt from Mel at According to Mags and Michelle at Old Dog New Tits
"Tell us in 57 words or less the best advice you have ever received
from someone older than you or that you admire."

This was a perfect way to answer this. I'm so glad you took *most* of her advice. There's nothing like seeing these kind of fun adventures through the eyes of a child!
ReplyDeleteP.S. GREAT PHOTOS! Especially the last one. :)
She opened my mind to the possibility of not having kids and I think it's really great advice for some people, but not me.
DeleteI love your 'have fun' response. Well said, my friend!
ReplyDeleteThanks Farrah! My Aunt was opinionated, but she was preaching to someone who was also rather opinionated.
DeleteWhat a creative way to tell your story. So funny.
ReplyDeleteMy great aunt was hilarious. She was always spouting out things like this. I thought of her immediately when I saw the prompt. Glad you liked it.
DeleteWonderful post. The last picture a perfectly sums it up. Glad you didn't heed her advice. :)
ReplyDeleteMy kids and I are also glad I didn't heed her advice.
DeleteThat's great! Who says you can't have it all! :)
ReplyDeleteLife is good! Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteHey! Great job, Marian. Thanks for being our VERY FIRST LINKER. You should probably win some Rice-A-Roni for that or something. I'll see what I can do.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I loved your post. You knew just what parts to listen to and where you should veer off. Again, thanks for linking up!
I love the San Francisco treat! I'll be waiting not so patiently for that, thanks!
DeleteThis illustrates my personality perfectly, I'm always listening, I'm just not always going to do what you want. Thanks for hosting the link up!
I love this! Hey - come on over and pick up your award when you get a chance!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the award.
DeleteFantastic! Really great
ReplyDeleteThank you very much!
DeleteThank you for stopping by Left Handed Ideas. I am following you back and look forward to reading your future posts.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate the follow. Thank you.
DeleteIsn't it nice to NOT follow all the advice we receive? Great post my friend!
ReplyDeleteI guess I'm a born rebel. Thanks for joining up for the prompt.
DeleteThat is a great picture and a great reminder anytime my mind starts thinking about all the places we could be traveling to if we didn't have any kids.
ReplyDeleteBelieve me, there are a few pictures I keep on hand just as reminders that I actually sometimes love this job. It's good for us all that I have them.
DeleteWhat beautiful pictures and words of wisdom looks like you have taken the right path for you.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much!
DeleteHow fun! :)
ReplyDelete*I just gave you a Liebster Award. Check out this link: http://mooreorganizedmayhem.blogspot.com/2012/09/liebster-award.html
And have fun. :)
Christine, thanks so much for thinking of me!
DeleteAwesome answer - just awesome. :)
ReplyDeleteThat really means a lot to me coming from you. Thank you very much!
DeleteGreat post! I am going to travel one day (wishful thinking).
ReplyDeleteWe will travel again some day. The kids have inhibited that a little. I really hope I can show them exciting places in the world.
DeleteI absolutely LOVE that last line - that you took MOST of the advice. Wahooo!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! I took the best pieces of her advice.
DeleteI absolutely LOVED this take on the prompt. After I read this (a few times), I wondered how on earth I could come up with one of my own. Well, it took me a few days. And I'm so happy to find your blog since I'm a HUGE fan of Finding Nemo!
ReplyDeleteSandra, that is very kind. I will have to come by and check out what you came up with. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteSo great! I think it's lovely the way you said you "took most of her advice." :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's mostly true. :-)
ReplyDeleteWonderful entry! There are many roads where you will enjoy the ride :) Thanks for sharing the advice, and reminding us about context ;)
ReplyDeleteI'll never know whether her childless life was an active choice or a choice life handed her that she eventually embraced. I guess that part is irrelevant. My aunt gave me the best advice I never took.
DeleteOh, I love it! Love that you only took "most" of her advice. Can't imagine life without children! :)
